Summer to Fall Skin Care Routine Transition

Summer to Fall Skin Care Routine Transition

Pumpkin spice season is just around the corner! The onset of autumn also means it’s time to spice up your skin-care routine. Take your skin care from summer to fall with these simple tips and tricks!

Summer to Fall Skin-Care

With the changing of the seasons comes the need to change your go-to skin-care routine. A summer skin-care routine looks quite different from a fall skin-care routine— May to August meant lighter moisturizers, foaming cleansers, and plenty of exfoliation. Your fall skin-care regimen is going to see a lot of preventative care.

With sweater weather comes a drop in humidity, which means your skin is probably going to go through a dry spell or two. Eczema can ramp up with the change in temperature, making your skin feel itchy and sensitive. By switching up your skin care, you will have a beautiful transition from summer to fall.

Fall In Love With Your Skin-Care

Follow these five easy steps to make sure your skin is getting everything it needs this spooky season!

  • Moisturize on the heavy side
  • You’ll want to amp up your moisturizer as the weather turns colder and windier. Dry patches can often pop up around the mouth and on the cheeks when summer fades to fall.

To alleviate any irritated, itchy dryness, make sure you’re switching to a heavier cream moisturizer, one that will hydrate and repair the skin. My RE-CREATION CALM & PROTECT MOISTURIZER uses rosemary merospheres to repair the skin’s natural protective layers and is the perfect choice for complexions that are prone to intense dryness or redness.

  • Ixnay on heavy exfoliation
  • As the weather gets colder, it’s important to cut back on some of the harsher elements of your skin-care routine. Baby your complexion a little! Instead of doing an intense chemical exfoliator, opt instead for an exfoliating mask you can use once a week.

    Best Fall Skin-Care Practices

  • Don’t ditch the sunscreen
  • Many people think that sunscreen is only for the summer. This is a myth! You’ll still want to use at least an SPF 15 during the fall and winter months. Your skin can still fall prey to damaging UVB and UVA rays during the colder seasons. I recommend UNDERWEAR SUNSCREEN year around. It not only serves as a great year-round UVA/UVB protector, it serves as skin protector, hydrator and soothing agent from these plant-based powerful ingredients: kukui seed oil, camellia oleifera (green tea) leaf extract, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, cucumis sativus fruit extract, sodium hyaluronate and allantoin--not a 1-2 punch but a 5-6 dunk! Plus, the active ingredient Zinc Oxide protects, soothes and regenerates sun damaged, acne prone skin dry or excessively oily skin.

  • Change your cleanser
  • A gentler cleanser that is ph-balanced will be great for switching your skin-care routine over from summer to fall. Foaming cleansers are great for the summer months, but might be a little too robust for the fall.

When the weather gets colder, the skin produces less oil. To add a bit of moisture back into your skin, go for a cleanser that doesn’t have a lot of sudsy bubbles— the fewer bubbles, the gentler the cleanser is! My gentle MOISTURE CLEANSE is perfect for slightly dry to severely dry skin and can even be used to remove makeup.

  • Don’t forget the rest of your body
  • Because there’s less moisture in the air to help hydrate your skin, you’ll want to make sure you’re moisturizing your whole body every day after you shower. Adding a body lotion straight out of the shower is going to lock in that much-needed moisture.

Don’t let your skin-care routine fall by the wayside this fall! Make sure you’re taking care of skin in every season— from the sunny and summery to the brisk and blustery! Switching up your skin-care routine from summer to fall isn’t as hard as you think.
