It's Fall--Change up Your Skincare Routine

It's Fall--Change up Your Skincare Routine

Fall is finally here! And with it comes chunky sweaters, pumpkin everything, and unfortunately, dry skin. With the change in the weather, comes change in your skincare routine. Save those summer favorites for next season and jump into a new routine this autumn.

Fall Into New Skincare

Recently I had a consultation with a new client. During our conversation, she revealed to me that she’s been using the same moisturizer for almost 30 years. I almost gasped! Skincare should be much like the seasons— they come and they go. Different seasons have different effects on the complexion, calling for specific, targeted products.

It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut— after all, we all want something quick, easy, and doable when it comes to skincare and makeup. What a lot of us don’t realize is that using the same products season after season might not be doing our skin any good. Fall is a great time to change things up— your style, hair, makeup, and skincare. I know after I get a fresh haircut, I’m ready to take on whatever life throws at me, including the changing of the seasons! Same goes for our skin.

Summer is hot, full of sun, heat, and humidity. The colder months inevitably bring dry, flaky skin.

Fall is all about adding hydration back into the skin, giving it a barrier of protection against the elements. Spring isn’t the only time to clean out those vanity drawers!

Keep the Glow Going

In order to keep your summer glow, you’re going to need to add in more hydrating products to your fall skincare routine. Keeping your skin moisturized is key! My favorite? A moisturizing cleanser. Currently, I’m testing an oil-based cleanser in my skincare lab and love —I hope to share soon!

In the meantime, my HYDRATING GEL CLEANSER will more than get the job done. A foaming cleanser rich with ceramides, it will remove dirt, grime, and makeup. Supremely hydrating, this cleanser is great for all ages and will add moisture back into your skin.

Be sure to use sunscreen all year round. Just because the sun is hiding its face doesn’t mean you should forget yours! Whether the sun is high in the sky or skimming the horizon, you need to make sure you’re a layer of UNDERWEAR SUNSCREEN. Mineral based, it works as a physical barrier and a skin protectant/healer, leaving your skin looking smooth and radiant.

Fall to Winter Skincare

Using a protective moisturizer during the colder months will go a long way in supporting your fall-into-winter protection. I recommend my soothing and lipid supporting moisturizers, my RE-CREATION CALM AND PROTECT MOISTURE FLUID and RE-CREATION CALM AND PROTECT MOISTURE CREME. Both moisturizers are:

  • Feather light
  • Soothing
  • Skin reprogramming
  • Revitalizing

Both will work well with dry, sensitive skin. My clients with rosacea prone skin continue to find success with either the Moisture Fluid or the Moisture Creme. With a natural algae mugwork complex and Rosemary Microspheres, your skin will be both protected and repaired all throughout the autumn and winter.

As the seasons change, don’t be afraid to change with them! Add something new to your wardrobe or your daily routine— especially your fall skincare routine. Remember that change is good for the soul…and be sure to love yourself along this ever-changing journey.
